Jeff's Famous Baked Beans

Bookmark and Share
This recipe came from a good friend of my father who has since passed. I remember him discribing the ingredients to my mother when I was about 8 yrs old and remembered the basics. I have made some adjustments to better suit my taste buds. This recipe is very adaptable to your own taste. Simply substitute your favorite herbs and spices to suit you. I frequently bring this dish to Pot-Lucks at work. I always bring a copy of the recipe because everyone wants it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 lb Bacon, diced
  • 1 - 15oz can Baked Beans
  • 1 - 15oz can Kidney Beans
  • 1 - 15oz can Pinto Beans
  • 1 - 15oz can Butter Beans (large or small)
  • 1/2 cup Molasses
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Catsup
  • 2 tbsp Prepard Mustard
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 medium Onion, Chopped
  • 1 medium Green Bell Pepper, Chopped
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Tabasco Sauce
  • 1 tsp Sweet Basil
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Red Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp All Spice
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin
Directions:

Brown ground beef and bacon.  Meanwhile, add remaining ingredients to a crockpot on low.  Drain meat and add to slow cooker.  Mix well. Cook on low 6 to 8 hours mixing only every 1 to 2 hours.

Excellent as a side dish or as a main dish served over white rice or noodles of your choice.
